That Cake’s Not For Noms, Kitty!

Before you say the video above is mean, remember this: That cat has diabetes!

Plus the cake is poisoned.

And the cat deserved it. He was totally being a jerk.

  5. Rose says:

Also, chocolate is poison for cats.

  6. Raaz says:

Poor diabetic kitty wants the poison cake of jerkyness

  7. Yui Daoren says:

Chocolate is bad for kittehs and goggehs.

Never the less, this gives the kitteh good exercise. Who knew cake could be beneficial to diet? =^_^=

  8. Lumi says:

(Sorry, my LOL is rusty, but this was on the icanhascheezburger site, too.)

  11. Nezumi says:

Looks like a chocolate cake. Chocolate is bad for cats, plus cakes are made primarily of plant matter that cats can’t digest properly. So, yes, cat should not eat cake.

    • superevilgeniuswhowantstodestroytheworld says:

not even just a little tiny bit? but why do they want it so much?!?!?!

      • Nezumi says:

It smells sweet, which mammals are generally hardcoded to be attracted to, and chocolate also gets them sort of drunk — the reason chocolate is toxic to most mammals is that they have trouble metabolizing the theobromine, in much the same way humans have trouble metabolizing alchohol… and like alcohol, too much will damage their organs and kill them as it circulates unmetabolized through the blood stream.

    • wozzle says:

A good many years ago I had a cat who was crazy for devil dogs and similar sweets. I always used to let him have a bite, and it never made him ill.
They can’t have chocolate candy, but I don’t think letting them have a kitty-sized mouthful of cake once in a blue moon would hurt.

I wonder about the general claim that cats can’t digest plant matter. They certainly seem to enjoy eating some fruits and vegetables, and, since they don’t regurgitate them as they do with grass, and I find no evidence of undigested pieces in the litter box, I must assume that the can digest what they’ve eaten.

      • wozzle says:

oops. left the “y” off “they” in the last sentence. my bad.

      • G says:

Huh? There are all kinds of things that pass through the digestive system without being digested. Humans, for example, can’t digest many kinds of fiber, but we don’t puke it up. It just goes through.

Dogs and cats can digest even less plant matter than we can. Doesn’t mean they puke up the stuff they can’t digest; it just passes through. Sometimes harmlessly, sometimes not. They don’t get any nutritional benefit from it either way.

  12. Cherokee says:

Wow! That little bugger’s got rhythm! I thought I was listening to a soundtrack percussionist! :)

  13. Hroar says:

Does he not have front claws? Declawed? I would think as pointyas they are, he’d get a “toehold” somewhere (so to speak), and gradually claw through.

    • Poorkitty says:

Yes he has claws, you can hear them and see by the way his paws move but clipping claws is a good idea for healthy growth and for the cat’s comfort. So he may have just been clipped so he wouldn’t be able to break through. Poor kitty just wants his noms!

  14. Marvelous Mira says:

Well, whether or not the cat should eat it is irrelevant, because you can see that the cat got no cake. Poor kitty, but it’s SOO cute anyway.

  15. amber janae says:

I love how the Fancy Feast sits in the background, so easily ignored… and as far as the cat and the chocolate cake theories – my kitties would be so hung up on the frosting they wouldn’t even bother with the cake (just sayin’)

  16. Little Walken says:

Did have a cat who ate Strawberry Chupa Chup suckers, she’d grab them out of my hand.

  17. Katie says:

When my cat does that it signifies no specific interest in what’s underneath – it’s something to paw at!

Also, that cat is adorable. Want.

  18. LisaAnne says:

My cat tasted the frosting but not the cake. She prefers white frosting over chocolate. She takes a few licks and is happy.

  19. GaujaDaBiatch says:

I don’t think the video is mean, I think the cat is annoying. Cat’s are not supposed to eat cake. Also, he’s obviously a pirate…

  20. Omega says:

Reminds me of nintendo 64 kid lol

  21. Orceh says:

Yay people who ruin the joke with their smartie pants comments on how cake is bad for cats.

That’s a ‘duh’ moment right there.

  22. KakaKitty says:

That is the most adorable cat I’ve ever seen.
